Blog Post 8The authors interpretation is that a genius is that you can be smarter and no so creative or you can be very creative and not as smart.
The author of this article described a genius as not someone of an incredibly high IQ, but someone who is creative and thinks productively, searching for all of the possible answers to a question or problem. His definition differs from conventional definitions of genius, in which a genius is considered to have a high IQ, and extremely smart, coming up with the answer to a problem in seconds. A real genius, however, doesn't have to be super smart or have a high IQ, they just have to have one important characteristic: the ability to think critically, creating and finding as many solutions to a problem as possible. Most geniuses share several strategies which include: looking at a problem in many different ways, making one's thoughts visible, producing lots of ideas, making novel combinations, thinking oppositely, thinking metaphorically, and preparing themselves for chance. My genius hour project encourages me to use some of these strategies, especially looking at a problem in many different ways, by challenging me with many different problems that I have to overcome in order to reach my goal. |
